If you’ve enjoyed Drop the Needle: Music That Matters, I think you’ll love following my next project, too.
I’m cooking up something a little different — something rooted in tradition, shaped by memory, and made to be shared. It’s still early — and that’s exactly why I’m excited to invite you to be part of it from the beginning.
I’ve launched a new Substack called Make a Roux Already — a celebration of slow craft, memory, and the meals that hold us together. That’s where I’ll share updates, sneak peeks, and stories as this new project comes to life — from the kitchen stove to the written page. If food, family, and the kind of slow, meaningful craft that good music and good meals have in common speak to you, I hope you’ll join me there.
Along the way, you’ll get glimpses of recipes, reflections on tradition, and the kind of slow art that invites you to savor, not rush.
And don’t worry — Drop the Needle isn’t going anywhere.
I’ll continue publishing new issues about twice a month.

Thanks, as always, for being part of this community. It means more than you know. I can't wait to see where this next chapter takes us — and I hope you'll be part of it.
P.S. Make a Roux Already will grow the same way good food and good music spread — word of mouth, and heart to heart. I’m not automatically adding Drop the Needle subscribers to the new list. If you’re interested, please subscribe. And if you know someone who would enjoy the stories, the recipes, or the spirit behind it, I’d be honored if you shared it with them.
P.P.S. To celebrate, I put together a special playlist: Music to Make a Roux By.
It stirs slowly through soul, jazz, Cajun roots, and zydeco — a soundtrack for cooking, savoring, and slowing down.
